Osman, resplendent with his first movie role—— Celal’s handsome nephew at 19, drawn at Kalamar in Kumkapi one hot night in August ’07. When you look like this, all the director has to do is push you in front of the camera.

Dangerous living conditions – Unrelenting expense – & crippling rent —- I asked to re-negotiate as I was putting in a kitchen & bathrooms – The beast landlady ( a frozen yuppie) said “No we have car payments.” I hope she walks down my stairs with her son, — The sole sublime experience of the Tarlebasi place was the huge garden and my four adorable (feral) kittens there: Callista, Tom-Tom, Slytherin & Shroom. How I miss them! Hope somebody is feeding them!—Somebody was. Ygor, Pinkie, Puppy, Ezzie and I left ‘Folly in Tarlebasi’ in November of 2007 for a Sultanahmet view of the Marmara Sea, complete with kitchen, and have never gone back.
SWEET VIRGIN MARY
Actual size: Sweet Virgin Mary painted on the dark old back wall of her house—— It was life-sized, at my hip level, done in chalk or very dry paint on brick, and somebody had hung a wooden picture frame over it, on a tilt. I hope it’s still there.
