A BEDOUIN FROM JORDAN

— How old is it? — Fabulous silver upper-arm bracelet — Mennan fixed my cherished Afghan ring from Momo’s which had lost its stone —

— ALI ABU RAYASH – Bedouin from Jordan – With a name like a desert breeze —— This was the first drawing done from life since the summer before, done on a whim up at Grand Bazaar.
FORGOTTEN CHAPEL

— Forgotten Boukoleon Chapel in the railroad bed —— I was given these photos in 2012 by a grad student who was leaving Turkey. I met him while drawing the Boukoleon. I sent them to French artist Antoine Helbert, who draws Byzantium that was, and we think that this is a tomb… or a fountain.

The chapel is under an apartment building facing the Marmara Sea, over the old Orient Express Railroad bed. I used to live next door to it. I’m happy to say that the Boukoleon Palace is presently being excavated and protected. I hope one day to draw this chapel from life.

CAT BONES MOSAIC

—Forgotten Chapel of the Boukoleon Palace, in the railroad bed—— The skeleton of a cat gives scale to this fabulously intricate Byzantine mosaic floor.
MEGAPINT

“A megapint?” — Doing the right thing —— I couldn’t resist drawing charismatic Johnny Depp during his lawsuit for defamation, which he won.

The summation proved that a substance abuse problem had not made him a domestic abuser.
JOHNNY IN COURT

We are talking about an actor so talented and beloved that there is an entire half-hour video of him simply arriving and leaving court every day of the trial. Millions of views, including mine.
