WASHING ATATURK
A morning ritual in the square — Loudest purring cutest kitten in Kaş — At dinner with Ricky Andie & Terry
JEFF ON A DIVE
Jeff, my diving instructor from Australia but really from the briny deep- who has read Somerset Maugham- and it shows — “Powerin’ right along”—— Jeff was describing my confident underwater swimming after his instruction. Of course, the rest of the drawing is from memory!
SOO & TAMER
… of the wonderful Dolphin Restaurant. Soo from England worked like hell to make the place a winner, and succeeded. She and Tamer had a stormy relationship that ended after the summer. She stayed in Kaş, much loved, until her death several years later.
LILI FROM FRANCE
The beautiful Lili… was in Kaş on holiday from Paris, with her two sons and her new boyfriend. They were seeing if it all fit. I hope they went home and got married.
HIDAYET BAY
House is the first chicken farm in Kaş- I found that all the dive people want to live there too — Hidayet Bay – A 95-year-old man owns the bay and will not sell it — “Good!”—— “Hidayet” means “Guidance” in Turkish. Was the name “Hediyet?” That means “Gift.” This place was both. At any rate I hope it hasn’t been “developed.”
RAYAN IN THE WATER
“I always knew I wasn’t like the other kids…” I never imagined I could draw a tide pool in pen & ink, but I tried. Why did I leave this paradise and go back to Side, where Nizam was, and chaos? Because I was the only single person in Kaş!
